Getting there
By air

Zagreb International Airport - Pleso(14km southeast of the city) is well linked to all major European cities. Low cost carriers offer the best budget bets from UK, France and Germany.

By car

Feel like driving? Within Croatia, motor-way travel is subject to a toll system, although this is relatively cheap by Western European standards. Tolls can be paid by card or cash.

Renting a car in Croatia is a great way to get around. All the major car rental companies are represented in Croatia but you'll often get a better deal booking a rental car on line. Avoid driving in the city especially during rush hours.

By train

It may not be glamorous as during the Orient Express times but trains are still fantastic way to travel. Zagreb Gl. Kolodvor is Zagreb's central train station, quite busy during the summer season.

By bus

Relatively cheap and relatively fast.

Brokenships Café

After an emotional rollercoaster caused by the exhibition, what better place on Earth to pull yourself together? The cosy atmosphere of the Brokenships café, its colourful summer terrace, cool music beats morphed into the subtle hum of espresso machine and lavender scent of lemon cookies served with Julius Meinl brews will give you all the comfort you need.

You probably won't resist the lure of delicious French pastries made by one of the leading Croatian pastry chefs or the refreshing ice cream produced the exacting, old-fashioned way, eschewing anything artificial, of course, and using only first-rate ingredients: surprising local flavours of linden or spinach, alongside yummy staples like double chocolate, vanilla, seasonal fruits or nuts.

Fresh daily sandwiches, made by Brokenships Bistro, will cater to your savoury cravings, and are best enjoyed with local craft beer - Zmajsko (Dragon's) – a real jewel of craft brewery, or a glass of selected Croatian wines.

If you happen to come by in wintertime, there’s nothing more satisfying than to fend off the chill and gloom by dipping our pepper-and-honey “Paprenjak” cookies into a warming cup of mulled wine spiced by the most comforting flavours of cinnamon and nutmeg.
